Vitebsk police officers rescued a person from a fire

Employees of the Pervomaisky Department of the Security Department in Vitebsk rescued a person from a fire and prevented the ignition of neighboring houses, Marina Fando, press secretary of the Vitebsk Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, told a BELTA correspondent. Militiamen Oleg Batalko and Sergey Rulev were on night patrol on one of the streets in the private sector of the regional center. Seeing a house catching fire, they immediately called firefighters and began to rescue people. Sergey Rulev ran to wake up the neighbors, as the flames could spread to their houses, and Oleg Batalko rushed to save the owners. Together with his arriving partner, they pulled out a man whose legs had given out from stress. Unfortunately, they could not save his younger brother, who lived in the other half of the house, where the fire started - he suffocated. The arriving firefighters found his body on the sofa; empty bottles of alcohol and cigarette butts were nearby. It is presumed that the fire was caused by the younger brother's careless handling of fire. Due to their own carelessness, three residents of Dokshitsy died today. At the dacha of one of them in the village of Prudniki (Dokshitsky district), friends organized a drinking party, and then one of them smoked in bed, which led to the tragedy. According to the Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 390 fires have occurred in the region since the beginning of the year, and 101 people have died. The main cause of fires and deaths is careless handling of fire. -0-
