This was told to a BELTA correspondent by Stanislav Shumyakov, head of the Vitebsk group of hardening enthusiasts, the chief "walrus" of the regional center, and a swimming coach at the "Molodost" pool. Erase from your memory the involuntarily surfacing memories of heat and a sun lounger by a visually pleasing body of water: for hardening enthusiasts, this activity is extreme and contraindicated for those with a runny nose. Vitebsk "walruses" will go out on the ski track with bare torsos and cover about 15 km in the suburbs of the regional center at an average pace in two hours. And instead of swimming in a warm sea, a snow shower awaits them. Meanwhile, forecasters promise frost (up to minus 4 degrees), snow with a blizzard, and gusty wind on January 7. For those accustomed to hardening procedures in frost down to 30 degrees, the weather is wonderful! Meanwhile, the swimming season will traditionally open on Epiphany. On January 19, "walruses" will test the water in the Park of the Soviet Army. Two more group outings are planned for the end of January and February. It is expected that about 30 people will take part in these swims. Stanislav Shumyakov noted that he became interested in hardening in his school years, and has been doing it systematically (almost daily) for 30 years. The effect of this health-beneficial hobby is obvious: the Vitebsk "walrus" doesn't even remember the last time he was sick. -0-
