Vitebsk enterprises must react more flexibly to demand and produce in-demand products - A. Kosinets
April 21, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Vitebsk enterprises must respond more flexibly to demand and produce in-demand products. This was stated by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, today at the 12th extraordinary session of the Vitebsk City Council of Deputies, where the new Chairman of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, Viktor Nikolaikin, was approved, according to a BELTA correspondent.
According to Alexander Kosinets, in the context of the global financial crisis, the city's enterprises must become more flexible, revise the range of manufactured products in terms of their demand, "produce what the consumer needs today, rather than working for stock." "In addition, enterprise managers must closely engage in developing business contacts, control the efficiency of the sales network, and marketing departments must actively seek new sales markets," he emphasized, adding that the high volumes of finished goods inventories are still the main evidence of the weak performance of Vitebsk enterprises. "As of today, with a target of 50-60% of the average monthly production volume, they amount to 132.7%, or Br240 billion in monetary terms. At the same time, the largest inventories in warehouses are noted at Vitebsk Instrument-Making Plant (441%), Vitebsk Electric Measuring Instruments Plant (280%), Fur Combine (646%), JSC Monolit (583%), and some other enterprises in the city," the head of the region stated.
The Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee also noted that the intensification of enterprises' activities will positively affect the replenishment of the regional center's budget, which has remained subsidized in recent years. Thus, for 2008, the city budget was replenished by only 86% from its enterprises and organizations. 14% of the funds had to be allocated from the regional budget to replenish it. The situation is not better this year either. Based on the results of the first quarter, the revenue part of the city budget was executed by 18.4% with an average regional indicator of 19.7%. Meanwhile, by more actively using its industrial potential, Vitebsk can do without subsidies from other sources, Alexander Kosinets is confident. -0-
