Vitebsk sanitary doctors have released free calendars with recommendations for flu prevention
November 27, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Vitebsk sanitary doctors have issued free calendars for 2010 for citizens with recommendations for the prevention of colds. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent at the Vitebsk Regional Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.
Calendars can be obtained at post offices, Soyuzpechat outlets, through distributors, and even found in your mailbox. The pocket-sized publication contains a calendar for 2010 on one side and, on the other, information that is highly relevant in the current off-season period on how to protect yourself from colds, ARVI, and flu. "Keep your distance from sick people, observe 'coughing' etiquette, and wash your hands more often!" advise epidemiologists. It is noteworthy that all these rules are simple and have long been known to everyone. The main thing is not to forget to follow them. And if illness does come, the best thing in such a situation is to stay home and call a doctor.
A similar calendar was also published by regional centers for hygiene, epidemiology, and public health in the region, specialists noted.
As of November 27, 104,737 people in the Vitebsk region have contracted influenza and ARVI, including 44,203 children, or 42.2%. 2,863 people have been hospitalized, of whom about 54% are children. The educational process has been suspended in two schools - in Shumilino and Lepel districts. A decrease in the incidence of disease is noted in Orsha, Polotsk, and Novopolotsk. Comprehensive action plans to combat influenza and ARVI continue to be implemented in 16 administrative units of the region. -0-
