Vitebsk schoolchildren will begin studying the Polish language

Vitebsk schoolchildren will begin studying the Polish language. The first Polish language classroom in the city will open on September 1 at secondary school No. 22, the director of the educational institution, Elena Novik, told the correspondent.

The classroom is equipped with the necessary audio and video equipment and is stocked with teaching materials. Classes will be held as electives in the afternoon for all interested students.

– The monitoring conducted showed that almost a third of our students from the first to the eleventh grade are interested in learning this foreign language, – the interlocutor noted.

Classes will be conducted by a teacher from Vitebsk State University named after P.M. Masherov and a young specialist, a graduate of Belarusian State University.

In the future, the school administration intends to establish close cooperation with interested educational institutions in Poland, organize student exchanges, and implement various joint scientific and cultural projects. Moreover, there is already experience in such work: Elena Novik worked as the deputy director of secondary school No. 44 for six years, where the initiative to study the Chinese language is successfully implemented.

The opening ceremony of the Polish language classroom will be attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Poland to Belarus Konrad Pawlik, representatives of the education department of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and local authorities.

The project was implemented on the initiative of the school with the support of the Department of Education, Sports and Tourism of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee and the administration of the Oktyabrsky District of Vitebsk. Assistance in the form of educational literature was provided by the public association "Polska Macierz Szkolna".
