Vitebsk schoolchildren among candidates for laureates of the Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus
The Special Fund of the President of the Republic of Belarus for the Social Support of Gifted Pupils and Students was established by Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus No. 19 of January 12, 1996. Its purpose is to finance activities aimed at stimulating the intellectual and creative activities of youth in the field of education and science. Thus, we have created a unique system of state support for talented representatives of the younger generation, which has no analogues in any of the post-Soviet countries.
Over the 20 years of the fund's existence, decisions have been made to award over 33 thousand incentives to pupils and students, pedagogical and scientific workers who have made a special contribution to the development of the abilities of gifted pupils and students. Financial support has been provided to the best 112 intellectual and creative associations of pupils and students that have gained public recognition thanks to promising developments and achievements.
It is gratifying that among the candidates for the laureates of the Special Fund in the year of its 20th anniversary, there are also our compatriots. These are Barbara Kuskova, a silver medalist of the 27th International Olympiad in Informatics 2015 in Kazakhstan, a graduate of Gymnasium No. 1 in Vitebsk, and Ilya Medyanikov, an 11th-grade student of Gymnasium No. 8 of the regional center, who won a bronze medal.
