Vitebsk rescuers honored WWII veterans on the eve of Victory Day
The leadership of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the personnel of the units congratulated the Great Patriotic War veteran Fyodor Filippovich Konnov online on the upcoming Victory Day holiday.
– Victory Day is the most important day of the year, – noted the head of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Sergey Meshkin. – We must always remember: without the past, there would be no present. Unfortunately, attempts are now being made to change the values that have been passed down from generation to generation. Today, it is important to pass them on to our youth. We must honor and remember what the veterans did for us. A deep bow to all who liberated our homeland, endured all the hardships of the war, who brought victory closer by doing everything possible both at the front and in the rear. I wish that those terrible episodes of the war remain only in memory, in historical films that show the legendary feat of our people.

As a sign of remembrance, the ceremonial formation of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations marched solemnly across Victory Square. Participants of the event laid flowers at the Eternal Flame of the memorial complex. Those who wished could communicate with the veteran online.
– We are grateful to you for a free Belarus, peace, and blue skies overhead, – said Sergey Meshkin via video link.
– Happy Victory Day, comrades, – replied Fyodor Konnov. – I wish you success in your service!
– We serve the Republic of Belarus! – said Sergey Meshkin.
On the eve of the holiday, the best employees of the units of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received state awards.
