The Vitebsk Regional Clinical Center for Psychiatry and Narcology, in conjunction with the medical university and the regional institute for education development, has developed a series of elective classes for adolescents titled "We Ourselves" focusing on emotion and behavior management. The program has been approved by the Ministry of Education and this year has been adopted as a cycle of elective classes for educational institutions nationwide, the psychiatry and narcology center informed a BELTA correspondent. The methodology was tested during the approval stage in five schools in the region and received positive feedback based on the results of a screening study.

The program is designed for students in grades 5-8 with good behavior who are exposed to negative influences and stress and often cannot resist them. In group sessions, children who previously kept their problems to themselves can talk about what worries them. Schoolchildren are taught to manage emotions, overcome fear, anxiety, mood swings, and resist being drawn into negative groups. In other words, the program's goal is to teach children to be self-sufficient and to say "no" when necessary.

The cycle includes 12 training sessions with interactive elements and games conducted by an educational psychologist. At the end of the academic year, it is planned to compare the results of children who completed the elective course with those who did not attend it.
