Vitebsk art project Cinematograf-3 united Belarusian, Latvian and British masters

April 2, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Cinematograf-3 art project has been launched in Vitebsk, as reported to BELTA correspondent by Lyudmila Khmelnitskaya, director of the Marc Chagall Art Center. This year, the project, dedicated to the theme of cinema, has brought together creative individuals from Belarus, Latvia, and Great Britain. Artists and directors from these countries invite guests and residents of Vitebsk to once again immerse themselves in the magical world of cinema. Artists have presented their vision of the inexhaustible facets of cinematography in the form of paintings and installations, executed in various formats and techniques. Narrative and abstract, bright and muted, they "hook" the viewer, making them reflect on the meaning that the author tried to convey in their work. Familiarization with the 48 works included in the exhibition at the Marc Chagall Art Center will bring true pleasure to connoisseurs of contemporary art. Along with the exhibition, an extensive film program is included in the art project. The 19 films included in it will also be shown at the art center on weekends until the end of April. Moreover, the genre of some of the presented films cannot be unambiguously defined. For example, the 13-minute film "Dreams of Genghis Khan" by young British director Denis Winkler, edited from footage shot at the Parajanov Museum and his own film studio, is more reminiscent of an expressionist composition, the genre of which even the author himself found it difficult to name. -0-
