The Vitebsk City Executive Committee proposes to conduct physical culture breaks at the city's enterprises
October 11, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Vitebsk City Executive Committee is initiating the introduction of physical culture breaks and a complete smoking ban at the city's enterprises, Dmitry Skorinkyn, head of the physical culture, sports and tourism department of the Vitebsk City Executive Committee, told a BELTA correspondent.
Proposals to introduce the practice of conducting industrial gymnastics during working hours and to grant the production territory the status of a smoke-free zone will be sent to all heads of enterprises in the regional center in the near future. These decisions are designed to promote a healthy lifestyle among members of work collectives, and therefore should find support from their leaders, Dmitry Skorinkyn is confident.
The need to stimulate interest in sports among the working population is dictated by the fact that physical culture and health work at the city's enterprises is episodic and is limited to participation in industry-wide sports competitions. Funds allocated by enterprises to strengthen their own sports base and conduct sports and mass work are insignificant. For example, over the past three years, about Br1.2 billion has been spent on these purposes.
