Vitebsk State University will train successful parents

February 14, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov is organizing courses for training successful parents, the dean of the Faculty of Professional Development of the Institute for Professional Development and Retraining of VSU, Candidate of Psychological Sciences Elena Bobrova, told a BELTA correspondent. The "Successful Parenting" courses are a joint project of VSU and the representative office of the International Children's Fund in Belarus. During the course sessions, university specialists help parents form a positive communication style with children, effectively resolve conflict situations, and overcome age-related crisis problems. The course program is designed to help parents not only improve mutual understanding with their children but also unlock their talents. "During the classes, our psychologists do not impose a certain point of view, but provide an algorithm of actions in specific situations that allows to localize the conflict and prevent its development," explained Elena Bobrova. The courses are conducted not only with parents; a separate program has been developed for school teachers who will be able to apply communication skills in their subsequent work with parents and children. The first experience of organizing such courses was successful and showed the demand for the topic, so the Faculty of Professional Development intends to continue enrolling students and actively develop the psychological and pedagogical aspects of its activities. Promising areas of work also include seminars on the problems of siblings of children with disabilities. "The problems of children with developmental disabilities are actively raised in our society, while the fact that they have brothers and sisters with their own lives and problems is overlooked," noted Elena Bobrova. In the near future, VSU, together with the representative office of the International Children's Fund in Belarus, plans to launch a series of seminars on this topic. In addition, the faculty plans courses dedicated to preserving the psychological health of future mothers, on the psychology of communication, and health preservation technologies. In addition to the psychological and pedagogical direction, the faculty offers professional development courses in language courses (including Chinese), computer courses, and economic courses. -0-
