Vitebsk State University plans to increase the number of retraining specialties by 1.5 times by 2015

February 23, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA/. The Institute for Professional Development and Retraining of Personnel of Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov plans to expand the list of retraining specialties by one and a half times by 2015. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Elena Toguleva, Dean of the Faculty of Retraining of Personnel, Candidate of Historical Sciences. Today, the institute provides retraining for personnel in 9 specialties, which are designed for both education system specialists and, in general, for individuals with higher education or senior university students. The most popular specialties among potential students include jurisprudence, psychology, economics, and industrial management. In accordance with the university's development concept for the period up to 2015, the institute intends to undergo accreditation and begin retraining personnel in 5 new specialties. Taking into account changes in the labor market and the constantly transforming demand for educational services, the university strives to promptly respond to market conditions, Elena Toguleva noted. Considering the innovative development of the region's economy, the institute intends to expand its retraining offerings for both education specialists and a wide range of individuals seeking to increase their competitiveness in the labor market. Among the promising specialties, the institute intends to organize retraining in the "pedagogical activity" profile, which is mainly designed for specialists from technical educational institutions. These institutions include, among others, production training masters who do not have pedagogical education. Another retraining area is related to physical culture. "There are a large number of sports schools, clubs, and sections in the region that are experiencing a shortage of coaching staff," Elena Toguleva noted. The institute intends to organize retraining in the "coaching" specialty. In addition, it is planned to organize retraining in the specialties "tour operator and travel agent activities" with the qualification of "manager for the formation and sale of tourist products," as well as "customs clearance and control organization" and "graphic design." The Institute for Professional Development and Retraining of Personnel was established on February 23, 2000, as a structural unit of VSU named after P. Masherov. During the university's existence, about 1.8 thousand people have been trained at its facilities, of whom more than 300 students received diplomas with honors upon completion of their studies. The institute's structure includes the Faculty of Retraining of Personnel, the Department of Socio-Economic and Humanitarian Disciplines, and the Scientific and Methodological Department, and in 2009, the Faculty of Professional Development was established. The new structural unit of the institute will be engaged in organizing professional development courses, conducting seminars, and internships at VSU for specialists from foreign universities. Currently, more than 570 students are undergoing training at the institute in full-time evening and distance learning formats. -0-
