Vitebsk State University is creating educational, scientific, and production complexes in biotechnology and physics

February 1, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotovets - BELTA /. Vitebsk State University named after P. Masherov plans to create educational, scientific and production complexes "Biotechnology", "Engineering Physics", as well as "Fish Farming" in 2011, the university's research department informed a BELTA correspondent. In 2010, Vitebsk State University signed agreements on scientific and technical cooperation with a number of enterprises in the regional center, the implementation of which involves, among other things, the creation of educational, scientific and production complexes (ESPC). The creation of such complexes is aimed at improving the quality of the educational process, scientific activities and is intended to contribute to the maximum adaptation of university graduates to the conditions of practical work immediately after graduation. Thus, together with the well-known Vitebsk manufacturer of veterinary drugs, Rubikon LLC, the university intends to create the ESPC "Biotechnology", to which BelVitunipharm RUPP and Vitebsk Biopharma UP are also planned to be involved. This format of interaction between the educational institution and manufacturers of biotechnological products will allow, on the one hand, to organize the educational process taking into account the latest achievements in this field, and on the other hand, will provide an opportunity to develop new biotechnological products under the import substitution program, including using local natural complexes of biologically active substances. Already within the framework of preparatory work for the creation of the ESPC, VSU employees, on behalf of enterprises, carried out research for candidate and master's theses, as well as for six diploma projects, and prepared three patent applications. Internships for students have been organized at the production facilities, and negotiations are underway regarding the distribution of students to these enterprises. The ESPC "Engineering Physics" is planned to be created jointly with Display Design Bureau OJSC, which specializes in the development and production of video monitors and special-purpose computer equipment for harsh operating conditions. Within the framework of the ESPC "Fish Farming", it is planned to monitor the state of the ichthyofauna and the feed base of Lake Streshno in the Sennensky district, which in the future will allow developing ways to restore and use the resources of closed forest reservoirs. Together with scientists from the Vitebsk Academy of Veterinary Medicine, it is planned to conduct ichthyopathological studies of fish in this lake, as well as to organize field training for students. In total, VSU operates eight ESPCs, which were created at the faculties of History, Mathematics, Biology, Law, Art and Graphics, and Philology. -0-
