Vitebsk Motor Repair Plant Strengthens Cooperation with Russian Regions
Vitebsk Motor Repair Plant, the largest specialized enterprise in the north of the country for the production and repair of agricultural machinery, has been cooperating with Russian regions for a long time and fruitfully. A solid portfolio of orders from farmers in Pskov, Smolensk, Moscow, and other regions has been formed for the coming year.
Today, all enterprises in Belarus and Russia (both large and small) have redirected their interests, are trying to find new points of fruitful cooperation, further strengthen business and production ties, and be as useful to each other as possible. High-level negotiations between the leaders of the two countries also contribute to this. Only together can we become strong, sovereign, and economically independent. Thus, the Vitebsk Motor Repair Plant recently sent a number of cooperation proposals to various regions of the Russian Federation with which it had not previously had contact points. What can the plant workers offer to partners in the neighboring state?
Vitebsk Motor Repair Plant is the largest specialized enterprise in the region for the production and repair of agricultural machinery. And while the fields are resting under the snow cover, here is the busiest time. Deputy Director of the plant, Alexander Ponkratyev, says:
— There are already about 260 engines in the workshops that require repair. Units for grain and forage harvesting equipment are brought not only from the Vitebsk region but also from other regions. Our task is to repair them qualitatively and on time; a special repair program has been developed for this. We are restoring both imported (American and German) and Russian engines. Under sanctions, we have learned to independently restore damaged parts, which significantly speeds up repairs and reduces their cost. In addition to engines, 36 soil-cultivating and seeding units have been delivered to the workshops – they are also waiting for their turn for renovation.
Equipment repair is only one of the functions of this large-scale production. Here they alsois ongoing work on the design of completely new units. For example, a prototype is currently being prepared for mass production – a unique seeder with a 12-meter working width, the SPZ-12. It will be lightweight and easy to handle. But most importantly, it will significantly save time and money during spring fieldwork.

Alexander Ponkratyev notes:
— All components are of domestic production. Even the electronic control system is manufactured in Minsk. And this is very good, as imported equipment becomes obsolete, wears out, and increasingly needs repair. Belarusian developments should replace it – no problems with spare parts, warranty and post-warranty service. Therefore, today almost everything we produce has the status of import-substituting products.
The services of the Vitebsk Engine Repair Plant are also in demand in RusRussian regions with which Vitebsk residents have long-standing ties. Kursk, Pskov, Smolensk regions, customers from Mordovia – everyone has something to offer, and the prospects for developing business relations with Russians are extensive. There is a groundwork for the next year, and the conclusion of a number of contracts is being worked out. Our partners are paying particular attention to new soil cultivation and seeding equipment. In addition, if necessary, the plant can also undertake scheduled repairs of equipment from the border farms of Russian regions. By the way, this practice has already been worked outна: аграрии Псковской, Смоленской и Московской областей уже доставляют в Витебск двигатели, требующие ремонта.
