The Vitebsk Regional Poetry Festival in Ushachi is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of Vasil Bykov

June 19, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Vitebsk Regional Poetry Festival is taking place today in the urban-type settlement of Ushachi. The event is dedicated to the 85th anniversary of the birth of the People's Writer of Belarus Vasil Bykov and the 80th anniversary of the birth of the famous poetess Evdokiya Los. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by Olga Korchevskaya, Deputy Chairperson of the Ushachi District Executive Committee. According to her, the venue for the festival was not chosen by chance, as these talents emerged precisely in the Ushachi district. Today, representatives of the Belarusian Writers' Union from the Minsk and Vitebsk branches, gathered for the festival, will remember these famous writers and visit places connected with their biographies. Thus, their route includes the village of Putilkovichi, where the house-museum of Petrus Brovka is located and his mother is buried; the village of Starina, the birthplace of Evdokiya Los; and the museum in the small homeland of Vasil Bykov in Bychki. At each of these locations, local schoolchildren will greet guests with literary and musical compositions. The last point of the excursion will be a visit to the memorial complex "Proryv" (Breakthrough), where the festival participants will pay tribute to the victims who died for the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders. The main event, which will conclude the day, will be a literary evening at the district House of Culture. Guests will read their favorite and most famous excerpts from the works of Vasil Bykov and poems by Evdokiya Los, as well as their own compositions dedicated to the famous authors. There will also be discussions, as their creative heritage is an inexhaustible source for study and research. A screening of films based on the works of Vasil Bykov will also take place. -0-
