The Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies signed cooperation agreements at the VI Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus

As part of the VI Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Parliament of Karelia and the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies. The document was signed by the Chairman of the Legislative Assembly, Elissan Shandalovich, and the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev. The agreement, in particular, provides for cooperation between the parliaments in legislative activities on issues of ensuring the rights and freedoms of citizens, strengthening legality and law and order, social protection of the population, environmental protection, and the development of territorial public self-government.

In addition, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the Pskov Regional Assembly of Deputies and the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies: the speaker of the Pskov parliament, Alexander Kotov, and the chairman of the regional council, Vladimir Terentyev.

Within the framework of the powers provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, the signed agreement should contribute to the development and expansion of inter-parliamentary ties, promote the strengthening of cooperation in the field of legislative and deputy activities, and the activities of the apparatuses of legislative bodies.

The document provides for forms of interaction such as the exchange of texts of regulatory legal acts regulating issues of mutual interest, the development of direct contacts between deputies, standing commissions and committees, the exchange of experience in monitoring the regulatory framework and organizing the work of the legislative bodies of state power of the Pskov and Vitebsk regions, and the participation of representatives of both sides in parliamentary meetings, sessions, meetings of commissions, committees, and working groups.

For the implementation of the agreement, the parties have the right to cooperate in other forms in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus.
