Vitebsk regional TV channel will begin broadcasting in May 2014

The Vitebsk Regional TV channel will begin broadcasting in May 2014. This decision was made at a meeting of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee during the consideration of the role of mass media in the implementation of the state's information policy in the Vitebsk region, reports a BELTA correspondent. Having heard the report on the need for creation and content options for the Vitebsk Regional TV channel, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, instructed to thoroughly work out the technical and organizational aspects of this issue so that the TV channel begins broadcasting in May 2014.

The Minister of Information of Belarus, Oleg Proleskovsky, promised full support for this project. "I will in every way support such initiatives, because people watch local television, it has a large amount of its own interesting content and original products," he stressed. In addition, district mass media - newspapers, television, radio - are closer to people, and therefore very popular, the minister added.

Touching directly on the essence of the issue under discussion, Oleg Proleskovsky noted that, firstly, it is necessary to create the channel immediately, and the second issue is to decide where to place it.
