Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee recognized as the best in the field of cultural policy implementation

The corresponding diploma was presented to the Deputy Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee Vladimir Penin at the final meeting of the Ministry of Culture, where the results of the past year were summarized and tasks for 2017 were defined.

This is not the only award for the Vitebsk region for creative achievements. The director of the House of Crafts and Folklore of the Center for Traditional Culture and Folk Art of the Gorodok District, Marina Gushcho, became the laureate of the republican competition "Person of the Year in Culture". The representative of Vitebsk region won in the nomination "Folk Decorative and Applied Art". Marina is an unsurpassed craftswoman who revived the technique of openwork and complex drawn weaving, and a laureate of various competitions. A few years ago, she represented Belarusian folk art in Venezuela.

It was the increased interest of broad public circles in national culture that the Minister of Culture Boris Svetlov named as the main result of the past year, presenting the awards. The ceremony took place at the Palace of Arts in Bobruisk, which was granted the status of the cultural capital of Belarus – 2017.

Novopolotsk also received congratulations, having entered the list of the most cultural cities of Belarus along with Mogilev and Lida. The settlement of Vitebsk region was recognized as the winner of the republican competition "City of Culture in the Year of Culture" in the nomination "Best City of Regional Subordination".
