February 16, Liozno / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee has prepared proposals for the creation of a flax processing holding and submitted them to the government. This was announced to a BELTA correspondent by Vladimir Novatsky, First Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. It is proposed to include the Orsha Flax Mill, flax processing plants and flax-sowing farms of the republic, the Flax Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences, and the sewing enterprises "Znamya Industrializatsii" (Vitebsk) and "Svitanak" (Orsha) in the holding. The main goal of creating the holding will be the economic efficiency of growing and processing flax, and obtaining added value by expanding the production of flax fiber products. The Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee also proposes to restructure flax processing plants. In the Vitebsk region, out of 20 currently operating, 10 may remain, which will undergo major modernization. For example, about Br4 billion will be invested in the purchase of new equipment at the Liozno Flax Mill. The renewal of the technological park will allow for the expansion of the range of products made from flax straw. Flax is a raw material for the production of 40 types of various products: from gunpowder to cigarette paper. According to Vladimir Novatsky, the National Academy of Sciences is also preparing its proposals for the creation of the holding.
