Vitebsk regional election commission notes high voter turnout in elections
According to the regional election commission, a total of 84.49% of voters included in the voting lists, or more than 865 thousand citizens, voted in the region. "If we compare with the previous political campaign, the turnout was 2% higher. Special attention should be paid to rural areas, whose residents showed initiative and increased activity in participating in the voting for local Councils of Deputies. Among them are Beshenkovichi, Gorodok, and Liozno districts, where the turnout was about 95%," stated the chairman of the regional election commission.
Regarding the work of precinct election commissions on February 18, Dmitry Khoma emphasized that the voting proceeded calmly. According to preliminary data, elections were held in all 3112 constituencies in the Vitebsk region. Deputies of all levels have been elected. The Regional Council has been elected with 60 deputies. 50% of them are newly elected deputies, and the other half are deputies from previous convocations. Currently, the regional commission is completing work on procedural issues. The final meeting of the regional election commission is scheduled for February 21, Dmitry Khoma added.
