Vitebsk Regional Union of Consumer Societies plans to purchase about 40 thousand tons of fruit and vegetable products from the population

About 40 thousand tons of potatoes, vegetables and apples are planned to be purchased from the population in the current procurement season by the enterprises of the Vitebsk regional union of consumer societies, the first deputy chairman of the organization, Viktor Shulyak, told a BELTA correspondent. As of September 9, 302 tons of cucumbers and tomatoes have been salted, or 123% compared to the same date last year. The purchase of apples is actively continuing. With a plan of 14.9 thousand tons, more than 14 thousand tons have already been procured. Fruits are supplied to processing enterprises of the region and the republic. Table apples are being stored in fruit storage facilities. Given the hot summer of this year, owners of personal subsidiary plots and farmers started harvesting potatoes earlier. Consumer cooperative enterprises, with a task of 8 thousand tons, have purchased the first 2.2 thousand tons (140% compared to the 2009 level). The same amount is planned to be purchased from the population for autumn vegetables, the harvesting of which will begin in late September - October. In the Vitebsk region, more than 1.5 thousand retail enterprises and 370 procurement points are involved in procurement. 370 full-time procurement officers and 395 seasonal mobile procurement officers are working. In general, the fruit and vegetable products procured and released by the enterprises of the Vitebsk regional union of consumer societies will be sufficient to meet the needs of their own region and for export supplies. -0-
