July 16, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. The northernmost, Vitebsk Regional Union of Consumer Societies, has already procured 150 tons of fresh blueberries, Chairman of the Regional Union of Consumer Societies Alexander Shinkorenko told a BELTA correspondent. The volumes of procurement of the valuable berry are growing every week. Cooperators expect to procure 900 tons of blueberries. Approximately half of it will be exported. Consumer cooperation enterprises have concluded contracts for the supply of berries to Poland, Germany, and Lithuania. As Alexander Shinkorenko noted, cooling and deep-freezing chambers for berries have been purchased in each district of the region. This will allow meeting the demand of foreign buyers for chilled berries and domestic consumers for shock-frozen berries. For the first time this year, Vitebsk cooperators are ready to supply frozen blueberries, lingonberries, cranberries, and garden berries to the retail chain. About 300 tons of strawberries and more than 500 tons of cucumbers have already been delivered to trade and processing. Cooperators will increase the procurement volumes of agricultural products from the population by at least 10% this year. -0-
