Vitebsk Regional Consumer Union purchased agricultural and wild-growing products from the population and enterprises for 100 billion rubles

Autumn is the busiest time for procurement. An important part of the overall production program of the Vitebsk Regional Union of Consumer Societies is the purchase of agricultural and wild-growing products and raw materials from the population and agricultural enterprises. This year, the procurement activities of our cooperators show growth. In January-July alone, almost 100 billion rubles worth of agricultural products were purchased from the population, which amounts to 2.4 thousand tons of vegetables, 710 tons of fruits, 279 tons of meat products, 386 tons of wild berries, and 21.5 tons of honey. According to the Chairman of the Board of the Regional Union of Consumer Societies, Alexander Shinkorenko, procurement agents supplied 39.6 percent more non-ferrous metal scrap, 27.4 percent more secondary polymer raw materials, 15.4 percent more waste paper, and 5.1 percent more vegetables to processors, while purchases of wild fruits and berries increased 6.8 times compared to last year.

Consumer cooperation has achieved such a positive result not only through active procurement of raw materials. This year, to help the population grow a good harvest, 85.2 tons of seed potatoes, 69.4 tons of onion sets, and 198 tons of mineral fertilizers were sold. People purchased seeds for vegetable crops worth almost 1.3 billion rubles in consumer cooperative stores. And these investments have paid off with substantial income.
