Vitebsk Regional Council approved Alexander Subbotin as Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee
As the Head of the Presidential Administration, Igor Sergeenko, noted during the introduction of the new candidate, Alexander Subbotin has held various responsible positions where he gained leadership experience; he is a highly qualified manager and a specialist in agriculture. "He is balanced, correct, does not make hasty personnel or other decisions, possesses authority and certain training, which allows him to maintain contacts at the international level in the field of agriculture. He takes a constructive approach to solving all emerging issues. His leadership style is characterized by the absence of red tape and formalism. He is approachable in communication with people," the Head of the Presidential Administration characterized the new governor.
He noted that even after leaving his post in the Vitebsk region, Alexander Subbotin did not distance himself from the region's problems, participated in the development of a number of programs for rural development not only in the Vitebsk region but also in the entire country, and coordinates the development of socio-economic development programs for the Vitebsk and Orsha regions. "I am confident that Alexander Mikhailovich can quickly get up to speed without losing time, especially since the current situation demands it, there is no time for warming up. He has a great desire to apply his managerial potential, which will be used for the benefit of our native Vitebsk region," Igor Sergeenko emphasized.

In his response, Alexander Subbotin promised that he would try not to let down everyone who supported his candidacy. "I will try to carry the baton that Nikolay Nikolayevich (Sherstnev, former governor of the Vitebsk region. - BELTA note) passed on just as high and, if possible, raise it even higher," he said.
As reported by BELTA, Alexander Subbotin was appointed Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee on December 13. Previously, he served as Deputy Prime Minister. "This is your homeland. And I feel it myself, you care about it. Just like all of us care about the land where we worked for a long time and where we became who we are. Everything you have is there," Alexander Lukashenko noted upon appointing the new governor.
The President recalled that Alexander Subbotin had directly participated in the development of new approaches to the development of the Vitebsk region, especially concerning agriculture in the region and the creation of integration structures based on farms.
"We agreed with you, as with the Deputy Prime Minister, that we would seriously look at how things are going in the Vitebsk region. We can no longer calmly watch how some issues are being resolved. And they are not being resolved in all areas as we envisioned," the head of state emphasized. "We agreed that over this winter we would examine some production associations – these integration structures – and draw appropriate conclusions."
Alexander Lukashenko also drew the new governor's attention to resolving previously assigned issues, such as the development of the Orsha Meat Processing Plant. Alexander Subbotin oversaw this production even when he was Deputy Prime Minister. The President also mentioned the Miory Metal Rolling Plant, noting that he intends to visit this enterprise and familiarize himself with its work. -0-
