Vitebsk student Maxim Budnitsky and Mikhail Beschastny from Khabarovsk became friends at the World Youth Festival and today congratulated each other on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia
Thousands of kilometers separating the young men are not an obstacle to common interests and hobbies. And today they congratulated each other on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia.
Maxim Budnitsky, a student from Vitebsk, and Mikhail Beschastny from Khabarovsk have known each other for only a month, but during this time they have found common topics for conversation, especially about their hobbies – they can talk about them for hours on end, almost. While Maxim is watching a mesmerizing sunset, Mikhail is already fast asleep. After all, there is a seven-hour time difference. But they do not consider the distance of 6 thousand kilometers an obstacle and continue to communicate.
— Each of us has many different hobbies, and we try to show them to each other via video, — shared Maxim Budnitsky, a student at the Vitebsk State Order of Peoples' Friendship Medical University. — Sometimes we call each other to show beautiful places and attractions of our cities. By the way, when we met in Sochi, I gave Misha a postcard with an image of Assumption Mountain in Vitebsk. My friend asked me to show him what this place looks like in reality, so I immediately went to film it after classes at the university. It was pleasant to see how such a seemingly small thing evoked enthusiastic emotions from Mikhail.
Maxim Budnitsky is glad that the university administration gave him the opportunity to go to Sochi and find a friend there. The trip allowed him to meet many people, exchange contacts with representatives of youth organizations and associations, which will be useful in the future for organizing events of various orientations in Vitebsk.

The Belarusian language is also of interest to the Russian, so he often asks his friend to say a few phrases in Belarusian. The young man likes to translate words. Maxim chooses the most interesting ones, for example, "dyvan" (carpet), "shkarpetki" (socks), "khmarachosy" (skyscrapers), "havbets" (balcony).
— Recently, we discussed the education system in our countries. I was surprised by the presence of not only a bachelor's degree but also a specialist degree at the university, — noted Maxim Budnitsky. — While in Sochi, we talked a lot about preserving historical memory in our countries and about the facts of rewriting history. Several interesting ideas have emerged, but that's a secret for now.
No conversation is complete without an invitation to visit. The young men agreed that they must meet within the year.
— When Misha comes to Vitebsk, I will show him my alma mater and take him to Uspenskaya Hill, — Maxim shared his plans. — If he comes to my small homeland, to the Berestovitsky district of the Grodno region, I will show him my agro-town Makarovtsy and how good life is in the village. Together we will go to the school where I studied, I will introduce him to my parents, and we will also cook something from the national cuisine. I will prove that you can really cook a lot of dishes from potatoes.
