Vitebsk theater project "Puppet Quarter" will go out into the street
The theatrical project "Puppet Quarter", which was first implemented in the summer during the international arts festival "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk", is planned to be expanded. This was announced to journalists by the director of the Belarusian Theater "Lyalka", Alexander Grigoriev, reports a BELTA correspondent.
"The project received good reviews, and the idea was born to expand it and take it beyond the theater walls. Justifying the name "Puppet Quarter", we decided to settle the space between the puppet theater and the Yanka Kupala National Theatre. We want to invite street theaters, organize the sale of theatrical souvenirs, so that upon entering this space, the spectator can stay here for a long time," the director shared his plans. At the future festival, the emphasis will be on children's events.
In the new season, the theater also plans to restructure the ticket sales system. Negotiations are underway with a Minsk company that is developing a special program. After the implementation of the electronic system, tickets for performances of the Vitebsk theater will be available for purchase through an ATM, as well as by visiting the theater's website or the websites of organizations specializing in online ticket distribution. "Developers are also working on creating a special application for smartphones, which will allow you to buy or book a ticket for a performance via a mobile phone or tablet," said Alexander Grigoriev. "We expect that tickets for New Year's events will be sold through the new system."
Another innovation is planned for the audience - the theater will organize an additional stage, for which the cloakroom will be moved to the basement, and a small stage with mobile seating, lighting, and sound will be built in the освободившейся territory. "So that we can stage a small performance for 50-70 people," said Alexander Grigoriev, emphasizing that the theater has long needed to expand its premises.
The Vitebsk puppeteers opened the new season on September 28.
On October 22, the premiere of the play "Temptation" based on Chekhov's story "The Black Monk" directed by the theater's artistic director, Honored Artist of Belarus Viktor Klimchuk, will take place. By February, V. Klimchuk plans to complete the major restoration of the play "Cinderella" based on Charles Perrault.
