Vitebsk Technological University will train specialists in leather and fur production
System administrators and specialists in leather and fur production will be trained at the Vitebsk State Technological University (VSTU), the educational institution informed a BELTA correspondent.
VSTU is the first in Belarus to begin training students in the specialty "Leather and Fur Production". The institution emphasized that the opening of a new training program for light industry enterprises is due to the implementation of a program for the development of animal husbandry and the modernization of leather enterprises in the region. Leading leather and fur enterprises in Belarus, such as OJSC "Minsk Leather Production Association", RUPP "Vitebsk Fur Factory", OJSC "Mogilev Leather Factory "Kozhevnik"", RUP "Grodno Leather Production Association", also report a shortage of specialists of this profile.
This year, only 15 people are being admitted to the new specialty (13 on a state-funded basis and 2 on a fee-paying basis). The training period is 4.5 years with the award of an engineering qualification.
Another in-demand field for which VSTU is starting training is related to modern technologies. Enrollment has opened for the specialty "Information Systems and Technologies (in Design and Production)". Here, they will train software engineers who are in demand at enterprises in various industries and organizations in the republic. These include electronics engineers, automated control systems engineers, software design and operation engineers, and system administrators. The list of applications for such specialists at the university has been formed for several years in advance. In this regard, already in the first year, 26 people are being admitted to the new specialty (23 on a state-funded basis and 3 on a fee-paying basis). The training period is 4 years.
