Vitebsk Technological University will train specialists in industrial safety
December 23, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. For the first time since 2011, Vitebsk State Technological University will organize advanced training courses on industrial safety for specialists in the real economy sector, Irina Semenchukova, Dean of the Faculty of Advanced Training and Retraining of Personnel, Candidate of Economic Sciences, told a BELTA correspondent.
The "Industrial Safety" course will be conducted in six areas and is designed to enhance the theoretical training and expand the practical skills of enterprise specialists responsible for the operation of elevators, cranes and lifting equipment, as well as for the transportation of dangerous goods. The course program includes the study of legal regulation issues for ensuring safety at industrial facilities and labor protection. Much attention is paid to the study of new technologies and equipment in industrial production, as well as issues of automation of technological processes. Practicing specialists certified by the Department for Supervision of Safe Operations of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the faculty of VSTU will be primarily invited to give lectures on the new course. Trainees will not only be able to improve their training level but also receive competent advice from specialists on specific problems they face in their daily practice.
The program is designed for 78 academic hours, and upon completion, graduates will be issued state-recognized certificates. Groups are planned to be formed with 15 people, and the first intake of trainees will begin their studies in January 2011.
Another innovation at the Vitebsk university will be advanced training on the course "Development, Implementation and Preparation for Certification of a Quality Management System (QMS) according to STB ISO 9001-2009," designed for education system specialists. "In the next year or two, all higher and secondary vocational education institutions must implement a QMS, so we decided to organize centralized training for specialists," noted Irina Semenchukova. In addition, the QMS implementation procedure itself implies that about 75% of the educational institution's employees must undergo training on these issues, which makes the course topics very relevant, she added. The training program includes the study of the fundamentals of QMS development and implementation methodology, documentation, internal audits, and preparation for QMS certification of an educational institution.
In addition, the university will continue to provide advanced training for managers of joint property ownership. The "Organization and Management of Joint Property Ownership" course, introduced in early 2010, has been completed by 110 chairpersons of homeowners' associations and housing construction cooperatives, including those from other regions. VSTU also plans to intensify cooperation with enterprises to organize individual advanced training courses for specialists in specific areas of interest to the customer. For example, employees of the security department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus are currently completing their advanced training at the university, and an individual training program was also developed for designers and technologists of the Vitebsk machine-tool plant "Vistan." -0-
