Vitebsk Electrical Measuring Instruments Plant invests about Br1 billion in modernization.
October 19, Vitebsk / Sergey Kotchetov - BELTA/. Vitebsk Instrument-Making Plant (OJSC VZEP) will allocate about Br1 billion for modernization and renewal of its machine tool fleet this year, the plant's chief engineer Vladimir Kolpakov told a BELTA correspondent.
One of the most significant new equipment items will be a modern turning machining center, which will be supplied to the enterprise by the American company HAAS Automation Inc. The high-performance complex is equipped with an automatic workpiece feeder (servo bar), a cutting tool drive, and a counter spindle, which allows performing several operations at once, including milling and drilling, and re-clamping the workpiece without operator intervention. Ultimately, the result is a finished part manufactured according to a program set by the operator. The machining center will make it possible to improve the quality of manufactured products and labor productivity by at least 1.5 times by minimizing the human factor, Vladimir Kolpakov noted. The contract for the supply of modern equipment with the American company has already been signed, and Vitebsk instrument makers expect the arrival of the turning center, costing about Br500 million, in mid-fourth quarter.
In January-September, Vitebsk instrument makers mastered the production of over 20 new products, including eight types of consumer goods, and by the end of the year, it is planned to launch 11 more new products into serial production. These include a control unit for automatic washing machines, developed by order of CJSC Atlant, an electronic ballast for controlling the operation of energy-saving fluorescent lamps, a discrete electromagnetic device for controlling the hydraulic system of automotive and tractor equipment, educational demonstration kits for conducting physics lessons in educational institutions, and a number of others. Based on the results of the first 9 months of this year, the volume of new product output amounted to over Br4.2 billion.
The vast majority of the enterprise's new developments are import-substituting in nature. In addition, a number of new products will be supplied to Russian automotive enterprises. For OJSC KamAZ, VZEP has developed a multiplex control panel using CAN communication technology, as well as two new types of instruments (speedometer PA-8115 and tachometer PT-8114). A number of new products from Vitebsk instrument makers are planned to be supplied to the Pavlovsky Bus Plant.
Vitebsk Instrument-Making Plant was founded in 1948 and transformed into an open joint-stock company in 2010. The plant specializes in the production of electrical measuring instruments for measuring current, voltage, frequency, power, temperature, and pressure. Products are manufactured for ground measuring devices and onboard systems of vehicles, including aviation. The quality management system for the design, production, and maintenance of instrument products complies with the requirements of STB ISO 9001-2001.
