Vitebsk Plant "STR" has started producing medical devices for the treatment of radiculitis and osteochondrosis

February 16, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Limited Liability Company "Zavod "STR" (Vitebsk) has mastered the serial production of a vertical underwater spinal traction unit with automatic hydromassage. Such medical equipment is not produced in Belarus, and global analogues are inferior in the effectiveness of therapeutic impact, the enterprise director Alexander Palchik told a BELTA correspondent. The unit was developed in the enterprise's design bureau and is intended for comprehensive treatment and rehabilitation of patients with osteochondrosis, radiculitis, and gout. The equipment allows for effective decompression of intervertebral discs in modes of dosed spinal traction with simultaneous hydromassage of the back muscles. Its main difference from imported analogues is the equipping with vibromassage, including for the cervicothoracic spine. The unit is simple to maintain and operate, and control is carried out from a standalone electric console, located in any convenient place for medical personnel. The medical development of the enterprise has passed certification in the Ministry of Health of Belarus, and in the future, a similar procedure is planned to be carried out in Russia, where medical institutions have also shown interest in the Vitebsk unit. It can be used both in inpatient medical institutions and in sanatorium-resort organizations where relevant services are provided. In 2011, Zavod "STR" plans to produce 36 such units for a total amount of about Br2.5 billion for healthcare institutions in all regions of Belarus. LLC "Zavod "STR" was founded in 2005. The enterprise specializes in the development, repair, and modernization of metal-cutting equipment, as well as in the development of machine tools for shipbuilding enterprises. The production of medical equipment is a new area of the plant's activity. Currently, the enterprise's specialists are studying the need of medical institutions for medical equipment. The prospective portfolio of the Vitebsk manufacturer also includes the development of devices and products for the rehabilitation of disabled people. -0-
