The Vitebsk Zoo is implementing a project for the socialization of troubled teenagers and orphans

November 3, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Vitebsk Zoo has launched a long-term project to work with troubled teenagers, children with disabilities, and orphans, as reported to BELTA correspondent by the Director of the Vitebsk Zoo, Alexey Andreichkov. The three-year project, implemented in conjunction with the juvenile inspection of the Oktyabrsky district of the city and the Vitebsk Regional Center for Extracurricular Activities, is aimed at the socialization of these children and is designed to promote the harmonious development of their personal qualities. The main role in achieving this goal is assigned to the zoo's animals. Specifically for the children, zoo staff have planned performances with the participation of contact animals, after which the young guests will be given the opportunity to feed, play with, and care for the animals. Close interaction with animals is intended to teach children care, respect for nature, and also to compensate for a lack of love. In addition, such a form of work will have a beneficial effect on children's health, the organizers are confident. The first meeting of children with animals will take place today. It will involve 24 children with psychophysical development peculiarities aged three to seven years from the city's orphanage. In the future, such meetings will be held regularly. -0-
