Vitebsk lovers found one bridge for "love locks" not enough.

May 20, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. One bridge for "love locks" was not enough for Vitebsk lovers. Another bridge in the regional center has begun to be adorned with hanging talismans of a strong and eternal connection, reports a BELTA correspondent who discovered the first seven locks on the Kirov Bridge over the Western Dvina. The Italian romantic fashion came to Vitebsk in 2007. It was then that local lovers, imitating Florentine and Roman couples, began to hang locks with their names engraved on them on Pushkin Bridge, and throw the keys into the Vitba River. Since then, the railings of this bridge have been overgrown with hundreds of different locks - from miniature to barn locks, with hearts hastily drawn with nail polish and names meticulously engraved by professionals. And now, for their magical actions of hanging, locking, and throwing away, lovers have chosen one of the city's main overpasses. It is possible that the reason for such a change was also the reconstruction work on Pushkin Bridge: passage over it is closed, and movement is restricted. So far, the city executive committee officials have not decided what to do with the love locks, as the railings of the old bridge will have to be replaced. However, they assured that good traditions for strengthening family ties will definitely be supported. So, on Vitebsk City Day, which will be celebrated on June 25, newlyweds will be in for a surprise. It is worth noting that Vitebsk is not the only city in the region where the ritual invented by the Italian writer Federico Moccia for his characters from the novel "Three Meters Above the Sky" is supported. Polotsk lovers have chosen the historic Red Bridge to hang "love locks." -0-
