"Vitebskoblavtotrans" establishes a connection between Novopolotsk and Smolensk
November 19, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - Vitebsk/. Regular bus service will be established between Novopolotsk and Smolensk from November 20, the head of the transport department of the Republican Automobile Transport Territorial Unitary Enterprise "Vitebskoblavtotrans" Andrey Rusakovich told a BELTA correspondent.
This is the seventh regular international route operating between cities of the Vitebsk region and neighboring countries. From Vitebsk, you can reach Velikiye Luki, Velezh, Smolensk, Riga by bus, from Novopolotsk you can get to St. Petersburg, from Postavy - to Vilnius. According to Andrey Rusakovich, two more international routes are currently awaiting approval at the Ministry of Transport: Vitebsk - St. Petersburg and Vitebsk - Tallinn. It is possible that the routes will start operating by the Christmas holidays.
As the interlocutor noted, the opening of new routes is driven by public demand. Passenger traffic is taken into account when drawing up the schedule. For example, you can go to St. Petersburg for one day: arrive in the morning, see the sights, and in the evening go home to Belarus.
Along with regular bus routes, "Vitebskoblavtotrans" also opens irregular ones, also dictated by passenger demand. Thus, it is possible to travel from Vitebsk to Kyiv, Daugavpils, Moscow, and in the summer there was a service to Odessa.
International passenger transportation accounts for about 30% of the total volume of export services of "Vitebskoblavtotrans". In January-October, the enterprise provided export services for $1.2 million, with passenger transportation bringing in $370 thousand.-0-
