Vitebsk Open Joint Stock Company "Vitmil" announced Wednesday as Belarusian Cuisine Day in its cafes and restaurants
June 2, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Vitebsk Open Joint-Stock Company "Vitmil" has declared Wednesday a day of Belarusian national cuisine in its cafes and restaurants, the joint-stock company told a BELTA correspondent.
By analogy with Thursday, which was fish day in Soviet public catering, "Vitmil" chefs decided to offer visitors an expanded menu of traditional Belarusian dishes on Wednesdays: from fresh cabbage soup, draniki, and machanka to cranberry kissel and milk desserts. However, the chefs are not limited to just grandmother's recipes. "Vitmil" technologists have invented and developed their own answer to the well-known hot dog - a sausage in a potato.
According to specialists, declaring Wednesday a day of national cuisine will attract tourists, who are sometimes interested in local cuisine no less than in attractions.
Specifically for guests of the upcoming "Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk" arts festival, "Vitmil" enterprises plan to supplement their menus with new recipes based on national culinary traditions. The joint-stock company includes about ten catering enterprises. -0-
