Vitebsk enterprise "Novmash" supplied a unique service unit for sea liners to Georgia

December 2, Vitebsk / Sergey Kochetov - BELTA /. Joint Belarusian-British CJSC "Vitebsk Machine-Building Plant "Novmash" has supplied Georgia with a unique service unit for large sea vessels, designed for pumping out bilge gases. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the enterprise's director, Igor Dvornik. The unit, developed at the enterprise, helps solve an environmental problem faced by residents of port cities. The fact is that during a voyage, exhaust gases accumulate in the holds of sea liners. When entering a port, ships usually open their holds directly in the port waters and release these gases into the atmosphere, and the pollution is carried by winds to the city. The Vitebsk enterprise has proposed using an original service unit that allows for the cleaning of holds from gases in the open sea before the vessel enters the port waters. The unit includes a massive drum with a system of filters and pumps, onto which a metal hose about 3 km long is wound. In the ship's compartments, gases are drawn in using the hose, which then pass through the filter system and are released into the atmosphere after purification. The unit developed at the Vitebsk enterprise has no analogues in the post-Soviet space. Its cost is about $100,000. "Customers are eagerly awaiting our product, so if it proves itself well in real operating conditions and confirms its calculated efficiency, in the future "Novmash" expects a stable demand for its development," noted Igor Dvornik. Vitebsk Machine-Building Plant "Novmash" is a resident of FEZ "Vitebsk" and specializes in the production of parts and mechanisms for mobile coiled tubing units and other equipment used in oil drilling rigs and oil development. The enterprise, established in 2006 with the participation of British capital, is part of the FID group of companies (Belarus). Based on the results of 10 months, the volume of output at the enterprise amounted to Br2.7 billion. The production quality management system and supply of oilfield equipment developed at the enterprise are certified in accordance with the international standard ISO-9001:2008. -0-
