CJSC "Medical Enterprise "Simurg" (Vitebsk) plans to increase its production and sales by 30% in 2010, Deputy Director of the enterprise Sergey Tetyuev told a BELTA correspondent. The enterprise, specializing in the production of medical devices and instruments, intends to increase its output by modernizing and upgrading equipment, mastering the production of new types of products, and expanding its production base, including through the creation of a branch at a new production site. In addition, "Simurg" is completing preparatory work to enter new markets. "In 2010, we plan to expand our product range by at least three new modifications of medical instruments, as well as to start active sales in the European Union countries and to introduce our products to the markets of the Middle and Far East for the first time," explained Sergey Tetyuev. The enterprise is completing the registration of 10 modifications of "Yunona" probes in Kazakhstan, after which it plans to start selling them this year. According to the results of 2009, "Simurg" ensured a production growth of 27%, and the enterprise's exports increased by 35%. Last year, the product range was supplemented by four models of import-substituting medical instruments - "Yunona" aspiration probes. The instruments are designed for the diagnosis of a number of gynecological diseases, including oncological ones. They were developed by specialists of the Vitebsk enterprise and have no analogues on the domestic market, and in some parameters, they surpass Western models. The instruments allow for examinations in outpatient settings without requiring hospitalization of patients. The use of Vitebsk developments makes it possible to increase diagnostic accuracy, and timely detection of precancerous processes ensures promptness in prescribing treatment and, in many cases, helps to avoid the development of cancer. In addition, the probes can be used in a number of clinical cases for the administration of drugs. The enterprise has mastered the production of two new modifications of intrauterine contraceptives. The enterprise, together with scientists from the Institute of Technical Acoustics of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, has developed and patented an intrauterine contraceptive in which a nitinol wire, a metal with a shape memory effect, is used as an active element. CJSC "Medical Enterprise "Simurg" was founded in 1991 and specializes in the production of medical devices for obstetrics, gynecology, and urology, including intrauterine contraceptives, probes, and other instruments.
