Vitebsk region needs seven fair days to complete the harvest - A. Kosinets

August 17, Beshenkovichi District / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. The Vitebsk region needs seven clear days to complete the harvest. This opinion was expressed today by the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, Alexander Kosinets, at a ceremony honoring the agricultural workers of KUP "Politotdel-Agro" in connection with the threshing of the millionth ton of grain in the region, according to a BELTA correspondent. "This year's harvest campaign is taking place in difficult weather conditions. We need seven clear days to complete the harvest campaign, and then a significant contribution will be made to the Vitebsk region's harvest," said Alexander Kosinets. According to him, as of August 16, 64% of the areas to be harvested had been harvested in the Vitebsk region, and as of this morning, 65%. The region has threshed 1 million 15 thousand tons of grain. 2,048 harvesters are working in the fields, 3.5 thousand units of transport are involved in grain hauling, more than 700 grain drying complexes are loaded with work, and a huge number of agricultural workers and townspeople are involved. In the person of the machine operators of KUP "Politotdel-Agro", the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee thanked all the agricultural workers of the region for the colossal work they are doing to ensure the food security of the region. He also drew the attention of farmers to the need to ensure high quality harvesting and prevent losses. Alexander Kosinets emphasized that thanks to the policy adopted in the region for the development of the agro-industrial complex in terms of crop production, the regional program "Clean Fields", for the implementation of which many resources have been invested to ensure the completeness of hectares, clearing of bushes, increasing the contour of fields, and improving soil fertility, the Pridvinye region is achieving good results. Thus, over three years, 200 thousand hectares of land previously withdrawn from agricultural circulation have been put into operation. Today, their yield is 32 c/ha. More than 1.5 thousand harvesters have been obtained, which allows for harvesting in the shortest possible time. A self-sufficient feed base is provided for the livestock sector, which today includes 631 thousand head of cattle, 5.5 million birds, and 510 thousand head of pigs. "The Vitebsk region intends to continue active work on the development of the agro-industrial complex in the future," stressed the governor, noting that this year the region plans to cultivate another 115 thousand hectares of land near farms. Legumes will be sown on them, which will make it possible to produce compound feeds. -0-
