"Vityaz" plans to double the production of digital set-top boxes and televisions in 2011
February 24, Minsk /Elena Demeshkevich - BELTA/. OJSC "Vityaz" plans to double the production volume of digital set-top boxes and digital televisions in 2011. This was announced today to journalists by the chief engineer of the enterprise, Valery Zaitsev, BELTA correspondent reports.
In 2010, the enterprise produced about 13 thousand digital set-top boxes of DVB-T/DVB-C standards with MPEG-2/MPEG-4 compression and more than 4 thousand digital televisions of the DVB-T standard. "We will, of course, increase production volume - the market is still gradually growing. I think that this year we will produce about twice as much," he said.
Valery Zaitsev noted that OJSC "Vityaz" has been actively involved in the digitalization of the republic from the very beginning. Starting with the organization of the first broadcast in the MPEG2 standard, corresponding set-top boxes were developed and put into production. "Then, when the standard was changed and the decision was made to work in MPEG4, a whole range of receivers for receiving digital broadcasting was developed. Today, we provide a full range of all receiving devices," he said.
Currently, the enterprise produces DVB-T digital television set-top boxes with MPEG-2/MPEG-4 compression, and hybrid televisions "Vityaz 32 LCD 831-4DP", "Vityaz 32 LCD 821-4DP", "Vityaz 26 LCD 831-4DP", capable of receiving and decoding signals of both analog and digital television broadcasting of the DVB-T standard with MPEG-2/MPEG-4 compression. In the fourth quarter of 2010, the enterprise completed the development of a high-definition (HD) digital television tuner of the DVB-T standard with MPEG-2/MPEG-4 compression.
At the same time, Valery Zaitsev noted that one of the problems for digital broadcasting is the insufficient awareness of the population, especially in rural areas. In the future, analog broadcasting will be turned off, and people must be prepared for this, which requires purchasing either a television capable of receiving digital broadcasting or a set-top box.
DVB-T (English. Digital Video Broadcasting - Terrestrial) is a European standard for terrestrial digital broadcasting, one of the DVB family of standards. It is used in various countries for the transmission of digital television and radio.-0-
