Vladimir Terentyev and the Ambassador of Poland discussed current cooperation issues
This was discussed on January 25 during a working meeting between the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev, and the Polish diplomat, who visited Vitebsk on the eve of his departure to his homeland.
– The period of your work in Belarus has been a breakthrough for the development of interregional cooperation between the Vitebsk region and Polish partners, – emphasized the head of the representative authority of the region. – For the northern Belarusian region, Poland has entered and consistently remains among the top five countries in terms of trade turnover, along with giants such as Russia, China, Great Britain, and Germany. Its average annual level is about 115 million dollars, while the trade flows are balanced, we buy and sell in almost equal volumes.
There are 25 enterprises with Polish capital operating in the Vitebsk region, including four registered as residents of the FEZ "Vitebsk". Vladimir Terentyev particularly thanked Konrad Pawlik for his assistance in implementing the project to create a production of modern trading equipment, which is being carried out by LLC "Modern-Expo". Polish investors are also among the quartet of its founders.
The intensification of economic interaction became possible thanks to the expansion of interregional contacts. The long-standing partnership between the Vitebsk region and the Łódź Voivodeship gained new momentum in 2017 due to the visit of a representative Polish delegation, which included heads of local self-government bodies and representatives of the business community.
In addition, no major festival in the Vitebsk region was complete without the participation of Polish ensembles, which is also a great credit to Konrad Pawlik, noted Vladimir Terentyev. So, during this time, a good foundation has been laid for the future strengthening of bilateral relations.
– In a few days, my diplomatic mission will be completed, but
interregional cooperation between Vitebsk region and Poland will continue, – is confident Konrad Pawlik. – And the past two years have been very fruitful in this regard. Several projects to promote regional development have been implemented. A landmark event was the opening of a sailing school in Braslav, we intend to continue to support this project, in particular, by organizing additional training for instructors for the school. No less significant event marked Konrad Pawlik's farewell to Vitebsk region. The Polish diplomat took part in the opening of the exhibition "Krakow Christmas Nativity Scenes" at the regional museum of local lore, prepared by the Historical Museum of Krakow and the Polish Institute in Minsk.
