Vladimir Terentyev elected Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies

Today, the first session of the 28th convocation of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies was held. Vladimir Terentyev, deputy from the Gorodok electoral district No. 9, was re-elected by a majority of votes. Alexander Khristoforov, deputy from the Dubrovno electoral district No. 11, who has headed the Committee for Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee for seven years, was re-elected as Deputy Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies.

Five permanent commissions of the Regional Council of Deputies were also formed: on local self-government and regulations; on budget and economic development; on the agro-industrial complex and ecology; on industry, transport, development of the construction complex, housing and communal services, and road management; on social issues, social protection of citizens, and youth affairs. The composition of the commissions was approved and their chairmen were elected.

Addressing the 28th convocation of deputies, Vladimir Terentyev emphasized that the experience of the previous convocation of deputies would form the basis for his work, which would allow for continuity. "Our predecessors worked constructively and harmoniously, with a thoughtful approach in the interests of the cause and the people. Necessary documents were initiated, aimed at solving specific economic issues, a number of social programs, filling the regional budget, and stabilizing the financial situation of enterprises and organizations," he noted.

According to Vladimir Terentyev, the main task of the deputy activity is to ensure a reasonable balance between the interests of the region's residents and the state's objectives. "This should always be the dominant factor in our work. Deputies should be the link between the population and the executive authorities," he said.

The Chairman expressed confidence that the updated composition of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies will be able to properly organize its work and will meet the expectations placed on it by the people.

Then people will appreciate and see that they did not make a mistake in their chosen representatives," the governor emphasized.

The Chairman of the regional executive committee wished the deputies to become initiators of many good deeds and fruitful joint work. "I am sure that we will succeed, because we are doing one thing for the benefit of the Vitebsk region and its residents," Nikolai Sherstnev added.
