Vladimir Terentyev took part in a memorial lesson at Gymnasium No. 1 named after Z. Alfyorov in Vitebsk

A memorial lesson with the participation of the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev, was held at Gymnasium No. 1 named after J. Alferov in Vitebsk.

– There are about 120 veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War living in the Vitebsk region. And every year there are fewer of them, – noted Vladimir Terentyev. – Today, each of us has the opportunity to learn about the combat path of our great-grandparents through the work of archives, to form an understanding of the role and significance of the feat of our ancestors who forged Victory at the cost of their own lives.

For the tenth-graders gathered in the classroom, the theme of memory turned out to be close: the institution where they study is named after the Hero of the Soviet Union, Major General Lev Dovator. Thus, tenth-grader Polina Sinyakova spoke about the virtual page of the project "Street of Our City," which is dedicated to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War.

– I took on this project so that as many gymnasium students as possible would learn about the feats of those who brought Victory closer and in whose honor the streets of Vitebsk are named, – noted Polina.

Gymnasium student Kira Saksonova emphasized that every citizen of our country, and teenagers in the first place, must remember the heroes of the war.

– For me, such meetings are of special significance and importance. And in my family, there are relatives who fought and went through the war. For example, my great-grandmother's brother, Mikhail Verbitsky, saved people at the cost of his own life during a fire in the small town of Primorsk on the shore of the Gulf of Riga. And today, one of the main schools bears his name, – shared Kira.
