Vladimir Terentyev met with the faculty and students of VSU named after P.M. Masherov

Владимир Терентьев встретился с преподавателями и студентами ВГУ им. П.М. Машерова
Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Council of Deputies Vladimir Terentiev informed the faculty and students of PSU named after P. Masherov about the specifics of the upcoming electoral campaign. Addressing the young people who will be voting for the first time, the head of the Vitebsk region's deputy corps emphasized the importance of fulfilling one's civic duty and coming to the polling station.

— Today, my goal is to meet with the university's professors and instructors, as well as students who will be voting for the first time. The main task is to clarify the changes in our legislation, primarily in the Electoral Code, so that educators can then carry out similar explanatory work among the youth, — explained Vladimir Terentiev.

He noted that everyone decides for themselves whether to participate in the elections and whom to vote for.

— But the authorities' task is to ensure that the maximum number of citizens of the Republic of Belarus come to the polling stations, — expressed Vladimir Terentiev.

During the conversation with the educators, he explained in detail when all stages of preparation for the election of deputies begin and what they include. The head of the region's deputy corps also stressed that on February 25, 2024, a unified voting day will be held in our country for the first time. The composition of the parliament will be formed, and simultaneously, citizens will elect deputies to local Councils of various levels. Each voter will receive not one ballot at the polling station, but several. Therefore, preliminary explanatory work is so important: it is necessary to convey all the necessary information to people so that they understand which deputy represents which branch of government.

At the meeting with students, the emphasis was slightly different. Vladimir Terentiev called the young people's first elections "an exam of civic maturity." He explained to the young men and women the work of deputies, what they can influence, and how the life of regions and the state as a whole depends on the decisions and initiative of the people's elected representatives.

— Your future and the future of the entire country depend precisely on those who are engaged in lawmaking, — emphasized Vladimir Vladimirovich.

He specifically dwelled on the fact that not showing up for elections is also a manifestation of a certain civic position. However, it cannot be called mature, and a worthy future cannot be built in this way.

— It's up to you to decide. It's up to you to think, — Vladimir Terentyev told the students. — But the fact that you need to go vote is beyond doubt.

It is important that people who will work for the benefit of the entire nation and each specific voter ultimately get into the Councils at all levels, noted the head of the Vitebsk region's parliamentary group.

At the end of the meeting, the students asked the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies their questions.
