Vladimir Terentyev met with employees of the Vitebsk District library system

Dialogue Platform Held in Vitebsk District with Librarians and Heads of Educational and Cultural Institutions

Librarians are qualified specialists, but at the same time, they are simply people who live among their readers and therefore, more than anyone else, can convey information about the draft amendments and additions to the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus to the public at an accessible level. This was the idea expressed by the Chairman of the Regional Council of Deputies, Vladimir Terentyev, during the dialogue platform in the Vitebsk district.

— Today, people of different ages come to libraries, with whom both club-based and individual work can be organized, — he noted.

Representatives of the Vitebsk District Centralized Library System, heads of local educational and cultural institutions, spoke frankly and with interest about the processes taking place in our society and the tasks that need to be addressed in these conditions.

— Libraries were among the first to join the campaign to discuss the draft amendments and additions to the Constitution, — said the director of the district CBS, Galina Nisnevich. — Public centers of legal information operate on the basis of six of them. In addition, all libraries in the district today have the text of the draft amendments and additions to the Basic Law, and our employees are conducting explanatory work among the population.

Galina Dmitrievna said that bibliotechels help to convey important information to the residents of the region more effectively:

— We have developed 12 routes that cover 27 settlements. Just as we bring newspapers and magazines to the population, we bring the draft amendments on bibliotechels to places where there are no stationary libraries. People can read it, and if questions arise, our employees are quite competent and can consult, explain, and advise.

Vladimir Terentyev emphasized that citizens' activity increases during the discussion of the draft amendments and additions to the Constitution.

— If at the first dialogue platforms it was evident that some people hadn't even read the draft, and we had to explain everything point by point, article by article, now it's clear that people are studying the document, they have questions – the most diverse ones. First of all, they concern social guarantees, and to a lesser extent, the state structure, — noted the head of the Vitebsk region's parliamentary corps. — All questions arise from life; it's felt that each person asks about what concerns either themselves personally or their loved ones.
