Vladimir Zhevnyak: Local authorities need to be respectful to people and clearly explain the motivation behind decisions

Local authorities need to be respectful of people and clearly explain the reasoning behind their decisions, which will lead to fewer questions from citizens. This opinion was expressed today to journalists by Vladimir Zhevnyak, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, during an outreach reception of citizens at the Senno District Executive Committee.

"Such receptions are important for exchanging views and understanding what is happening in district executive committees. Because sometimes citizens, when approaching local authorities, receive incorrect answers, which leads to people appealing to higher authorities. Authorities need to listen carefully to people and address their problems," noted the Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration.

Today, a resident of Beshenkovichi, who had previously sought employment assistance from local authorities, came to Vladimir Zhevnyak's reception. The young mother, raising a child alone, has been looking for a job since January. There was a vacancy in one of the district organizations, and the woman met the requirements, but the head of the organization refused to hire her, citing that he did not know her. "Such an attitude towards people is unacceptable. A person is suitable, but they are not hired for fabricated reasons. Yes, sometimes citizens also take a position where they are offered several vacancies, but people refuse for one reason or another. We need to be mutually respectful and proceed from the current situation when resolving an issue," said Vladimir Zhevnyak.

The Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration added that almost all issues raised by the region's residents during the "Big Conversation" have been resolved in the Vitebsk region. A few remain that require further work. Many citizens came to the reception in Senno from other districts and cities. People raised questions about the quality of work of the police and investigators, housing, medical, pension problems, etc. Appropriate instructions were given for all of them.
