Commissions for the assessment of cultural heritage sites will be established in all regions of the Vitebsk region

February 18, Vitebsk / Olga Bogacheva - BELTA /. Commissions for the assessment of historical and cultural heritage sites will be created in all districts and cities of the Vitebsk region. This was announced today at a meeting of the final board of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Department of Culture by its head Vladimir Terentyev, BELTA correspondent reports. According to Vladimir Terentyev, the need to create such structures is due to the insufficient work of the culture departments of city and district executive committees in preserving the material and intangible cultural heritage sites of the region. Thus, in 2010, only seven districts (Tolochinsky, Miorsky, Lioznensky, Orshansky, Gluboksky, Gorodoksky, and Postavsky) submitted materials for consideration by the regional commission on intangible cultural heritage sites. "But none of them meet the standards for document design," stated the head of the culture department. In addition, the regional prosecutor's office identified shortcomings in the signing of security obligations in Chashniksky, Miorsky, Braslavsky, Tolochinsky, and Shumilinsky districts, and revealed the carrying out of repair and restoration work without the permission of the Ministry of Culture in Senno and Beshenkovichsky districts. Work on installing security signs is being carried out poorly in Braslavsky, Lepelsky, Polotsky, Rossonsky, Dokshitsky, Gorodoksky, Ushachsky, Tolochinsky, Shumilinsky, and Beshenkovichsky districts. The issue of improper maintenance and use of the post station in the village of Pogrebienka, Senno district, also remains unresolved. -0-
