Water in the Vitebsk region will improve: iron removal stations are under construction

Вода на Витебщине станет лучше: ведётся строительство станций обезжелезивания
Design and construction of iron removal stations are underway in 40 settlements of the Vitebsk region.

– We are building first and foremost where the issue of drinking water quality was acute. Eight facilities were commissioned this year, work has been completed at five more, and is ongoing at two: in Beshenkovichi and the agro-town of Varkhi, Gorodok district, – said Vadim Prosolov, Head of the Capital Construction and Investment Department of UP "Vitebskobvodokanal".

For these purposes, 8.48 million rubles are provided from the republican and regional budgets, as well as 5.4 million dollars from the loan funds of the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

In addition, by 2022, it is planned to build another 80 small-capacity iron removal stations in rural settlements of the region at the expense of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). This will improve the quality of drinking water for 30 thousand residents of the Vitebsk region.

– The expected indicator of the provision of water of normative quality to consumers by the end of 2019 will be almost 95%, but we are striving for 100% supply of clean water to the population.

In 2020, the construction of 72 iron removal stations is envisaged: 32 with loan funds from the EBRD and 40 with budget funds, – noted Vadim Petrovich.
