Driving a tractor and sailing are taught at the Gorodok Agricultural and Technical College
September 30, Vitebsk / Diana Kurilo - BELTA /. Driving tractors and sailing are taught at the Gorodok Agricultural Technical College. From the current academic year, the first sailing section in the region has started operating at the college, Gennady Valyushkevich, deputy director of the educational institution, told a BELTA correspondent.
The Republican Center for Olympic Training in Sailing has transferred four single-handed yachts and a boat to the college. Now, under the guidance of a young teacher who underwent special training at the Minsk yacht club, the students are beginning to master the art of yachting. However, before participating in any famous sea regatta, they will have to complete theoretical training and learn, for example, that one can sail against the wind. A true yachtsman must be able to repair his vessel and mend sails - future mechanics and technicians will also have to learn this. Special attention is paid to physical training. According to Gennady Valyushkevich, the college intends to develop special simulators for young yachtsmen. Only after successfully completing these important training stages will the students go for practical training on Lake Losvido, which is 5 km from the college.
The tourist base of the same name, "Losvido," intends to provide the college with a hangar for storing yachts and equip a pier free of charge. An agreement on this has already been reached, Gennady Valyushkevich reported. The benefit for the recreation organizers is obvious, as romantic yachts on one of the most beautiful lakes in the Vitebsk region can attract tourists. According to the section's plan, the first launch of yachts will take place at the end of spring.
As Gennady Valyushkevich noted, the main goal of the new section is to instill a culture of a healthy lifestyle in young men and women. Perhaps, thanks to the college, some of them will be able to fulfill their dream of the sea.
In 2010, the college will celebrate its 80th anniversary. Currently, more than 800 young men and women are receiving secondary specialized education here. Training is conducted in three specialties: technical support for agricultural production, energy supply for agricultural production, and material and technical support and service of the agro-industrial complex. In addition, college students receive working professions: driver, tractor driver-machinist, mechanic for repairing agricultural machinery and equipment, and electrical fitter. -0-
