Driver, salesperson, and tractor driver top the list of in-demand professions in the Vitebsk region
Drivers, salespeople, tractor drivers, and electric welders are in steady demand in the labor market of the Vitebsk region, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the Committee for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Regional Executive Committee.
There are almost 2 vacancies for each unemployed person registered with the employment center. Moreover, 85% of the available positions are for blue-collar jobs. The region's enterprises require seamstresses, shoe assemblers, masons, carpenters, conductors, and cooks. Among specialists with higher education, engineers and doctors are in high demand.
Employment center specialists do not just keep track of vacancies. They actively help citizens whose professional skills are no longer in demand to find new jobs. A total of 9,349 people have been employed through the employment center since the beginning of the year. Subsidies for starting entrepreneurial activities have been allocated to almost 200 citizens. Over 900 people have undergone training and retraining. Approximately 2,500 unemployed individuals have been involved in paid public works.
Currently, the official unemployment rate in the region is 0.8% of the economically active population. There are 3,531 people registered with the employment center. Typically, these are individuals with low professional qualifications who can work as auxiliary workers, cleaners, and loaders. As for specialists, there is an oversupply of accountants, economists, boiler operators, and crop farmers in the labor market of the Vitebsk region.
