June 18, Gomel /Natalia Titushkina - BELTA/. Drivers of long-haul truck trains from Gomel, Mogilev and Vitebsk regions will take part in the qualifying stage of the 5th professional skills competition, which will be held in Gomel on June 19-20. Vladimir Emelyanov, a specialist at the Gomel representative office of the Association of International Road Carriers "BAMAP", informed a BELTA correspondent about this. Each region will be represented by 6 teams with three participants each. "Crazy-BAM!", as the competition is tentatively named, will unfold at the Gomel airport and bus depot No. 6. The teams will compete in theoretical training on traffic rules knowledge, in economical driving skills of truck trains - covering a distance with minimal fuel consumption without turning off the engine. Contestants will demonstrate their skills in truck train handling and compete in performing specific complex maneuvers. Two MAZ tractor units with semi-trailers with a capacity of 380 hp will be provided for the competition by the State Enterprise "Gomelagrotans". In addition, performances by go-karters, young karatekas, and creative groups are planned. An excursion program is provided for the participants of the stage and guests of the competition. The competition is organized and conducted by the "BAMAP" association. Its main task is to improve the professional competence of international drivers and popularize a courageous and difficult profession. "The skill of drivers affects the reduction of operating costs, improvement of road traffic safety, and reduction of man-made impact on the environment," noted Vladimir Emelyanov. -0-
