Tram drivers from cities of Belarus and Smolensk compete in professional skills in Vitebsk

Tram drivers from various cities of Belarus and Smolensk are competing today in Vitebsk for professional skills, as reported to a BELTA correspondent by the head of the Vitebsk Tram and Trolleybus Department, Vasily Pavlyuchkov.

Among the competition participants are representatives from Vitebsk, Minsk, Novopolotsk, Mozyr, as well as guests from Smolensk (Russia), who are competing with the Belarusians on equal terms. Specifically for this, the organizers even had to refine the competition regulations. The competition includes two main stages. In the first, jury members will assess the contestants' knowledge of traffic rules, tram design, job descriptions, and other regulatory documents. Then, they will have to pass the practical part, demonstrating the procedure for accepting and handing over a tram, the procedure for serving passengers from the moment of boarding, following the route until disembarking. Contestants will also have to complete tasks related to identifying and eliminating potential malfunctions that may arise during the tram's operation.

The professionalism of the participants will be evaluated by points. Those who score the highest will be awarded diplomas of winners and valuable prizes.

"The competition is designed to popularize the profession of tram driver, contribute to the improvement of professional skills of representatives of this profession, and also serves as an excellent opportunity for communication, exchange of experience and best practices," noted Vasily Pavlyuchkov, adding that in addition to the direct participants of the competition, technical specialists and enterprise managers arrived in Vitebsk as part of the delegations gathered for this purpose.

The event is timed to coincide with the celebration of the 115th anniversary of the Vitebsk Tram and Trolleybus Department, which the enterprise marked on June 18. It was on this day 115 years ago that trams made their first regular run in Vitebsk.
